The name “Preliator” means fighter or warrior in Latin, so it’s no surprise Spyker chose that name for its new C8. The Spyker C8 Preliator marks the next step in Spyker Cars’ evolution. The 2-door mid-engine sports car will offer the discerning driver of the highest standards a new choice, delivering a rare combination of heritage, design, craftsmanship, performance and exclusivity.
At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show unveiling, Victor R. Muller, Spyker’s Founder and CEO, said, “The greatest man in our industry, Enzo Ferrari Ferrari , once said: ‘What’s behind you, doesn’t matter.’ What does matter is the fact that we have returned to Geneva today to unveil the worthy successor to the Spyker C8 Aileron, launched right here in 2009, of which the last five units are being assembled in our new production facilities in Coventry, the United Kingdom.” The C8 Preliator represents the second significant reboot of Spyker’s core model.
At the C8’s heart sits a 4.2-liter V8 sourced from Audi, now supercharged to 518 horsepower for a claimed 0-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour.
Highly detailed design, bespoke materials and aviation-inspired elements are a core part of the Spyker DNA. Spyker’s third-generation sports car features design cues from jet propulsion aircraft, highlighting the turbine blade, NACA duct air inlets and little wings, ailerons, to improve the car’s aerodynamic performance.
Spyker offers it’s customers a complete bespoke interior with unique finishes, plenty of brushed aluminum, leather, and the all-important toggle switches for the ultimate in personalisation.
Spyker will produce only 50 examples of the Preliator.
