In the watch industry, safes are no longer something to hide in a closet or behind a false wall, these safes are now beautiful piece of furniture to be flaunted, turning a safe into a bona fide high-end luxury lifestyle item – in addition to the items it was meant to store.
Brown Safe is a family-owned and operated company led by husband-and-wife team Lynel Berryhill, Vice President, and Shawn Berryhill, Vice President of Research and Development. Backed by 30 years of experience, Brown Safe offers a wide range of luxury and standard safes.
The Chronos safe is taylored made specifically for collectors who have amassed a small fortune in watches.
Each safe comes with a 50-year warranty along with the assurance that Brown Safe will handle everything from initial consultation, installation, and even transport services for the safe if the client needs to move the safe to a different location. Moreover, if a client is locked out of their safe, Brown Safe will send one of its own technicians to open the door.
Generally, when someone is locked of their safe, a local specialist / lock smith would receive “drill points” from the manufacturer to open the door. Clearly, this would be a breach of security that jeopardizes the safety of the safe contents.
For the Chronos, Brown Safe decided to build upon a safe originally designed to transport weaponry, by designing a new interior to house watches. At first glance, this does seem like complete overkill, but there is indeed a market for this level of security. Without getting too far into confidential details, there have been instances within their client base of armed robberies – cinematic heists that one would think are far removed from reality.
(As an added feature, if a client ever finds themselves demanded to open the Chronos at gunpoint, all they have to do is press an extra digit when entering their security code and a silent alarm will trigger. The safe also has a robust GPS tracking device installed in case anyone tries to remove the safe in its entirety.)
In order to achieve complete control over the quality of production, Brown Safe builds all of its products from the ground up – starting with raw steel that is processed in California. The Chronos in particular uses a ballistic steel, first developed by the U.S. Military, which is so strong that it must be processed at another facility using laser-cutting machines. The material can withstand multiple rounds of 50-caliber ammunition, rendering brute-force attacks futile. On top of the ballistic steel is a 2-inch thick coating of fire-resistant steel which can be customized to any color.
Even with these materials, the safe is lightweight enough to be installed on the upper levels of a residence without jeopardizing the integrity of the home.
The Chronos is available in two configurations:
Model 4218, Configuration A: $63,550; Configuration B: $68,350
– Exterior Dimensions: 48.5″ h x 24.5″ w x 27″ d
